This is the 240th video in my Final Fantasy XIII playthrough. The party buys a Serenity Sachet. They upgrade it to a Safeguard Sachet and the Giant's Glove to a Warlord's Glove.

Next, it's time to prepare to face the Shaolong Gui enemies on the Archylte Steppe. The party buys a Warrior's Wristband for Lightning and upgrades it to a Power Glove. Then, they make a couple of Aurora Scarves, which fully charge a wearer's ATB gauge before battle. Next, they upgrade Lightning's Gladius gunblade to a maxed Helter-skelter. They also upgrade Sazh's Antares Deluxes to Fomalhaut Elites.

Then, they head to the Archylte Steppe to farm some Shaolong Guis. They appear wherever Adamanchelids used to appear in the Eastern Tors and Northern Highplain of the Archylte Steppe. There is only one reason to fight these monsters: Dark Matters. They are needed to upgrade Adamant Bangles, Power Gloves, Weirding Glyphs, and Procyons.

The party is Lightning, Fang, and Sazh. My strategy is to start in Tortoise (3 Sentinels) to reduce the damage from Shaolong Gui's opening Quake attack, then buff up in Superiority (Synergist-Saboteur-Synergist) while Fang debuffs the turtle. Try to switch back to Tortoise whenever the turtle stomps its foot. Then, stagger the beast with Tri-disaster (3 Ravagers) and let it have it with Exploitation (Commando-Saboteur-Saboteur) and then Devastation (Commando-Commando-Saboteur). Exploitation is to apply any debuffs that may have been missed while in Superiority. Like when fighting Adamantoises, it is absolutely crucial to synchronize Lightning's attacks with Sazh's Daze spells. Sazh casts slowly, which gives you a larger time window. I show my party's paradigms and equipment after the battle.

Good luck with these. I died more often than not while fighting these things. You need about 5 or 6 Dark Matters. Maybe more, if you're out to make a bunch of Wurtzite Bangles, Kaiser Knuckles, and/or Magistral Crests.
