This is a playthrough (part) of Square Enix's dramatic and explosive action-romp "Final Fantasy XVI". The story follows humble, demoted prince "Clive Rosfield"; a protector of his brother "Joshua" until tragedy befalls them both. Lost and defeated Clive sets out on an adventure to uncover the truth about his transformation and the blight behind the fabled "Mother Crystals". Can Clive and his cohorts save "Valisthea" before it's too late?

Final Fantasy XVI was created by "Creative Business Unit III"; a subsidiary of "Square-Enix". Lead fundamentally by the team responsible for the online MMORPG "Final Fantasy XIV". "Hiroshi Takai" (game director) opted to make an "action-based" combat loop more liken to the "Devil May Cry" series distancing it from the more traditional turn-based model of the series. Subsequent cut's were made reducing "party play" to a sole character and ditching the open world of prior mainstays.

The reception of "XVI" was relatively well received with many praising the dramatic shift in gameplay and the darker subject matter of the story. The Eikon battles (a series of spectacle/story bouts) were lauded by many reviewers with many citing the "God of War" series and "Asura's wrath". The less generous felt the themes within were poorly resolved with badly written dialogue/characters in places.
