Find Goliaths in CoH2 using your headset - tutorial and demonstration
36In response to a moment in this cast https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5wOUYZvhq4 where Isildur flames a cloaked goliath, I show how in 3 out of 4 cases I can locate a goliath's position. (The only time I couldn't there was a lot of rifle fire masking it).
This was done on the spur of the moment with Tomy helping out. To summarise:
To find a goliath using a headset:
1) Use a decent headset with crisp audio quality.
2) Use a quiet moment in the game to pan the camera and find the general area of the distinctive high pitched engine noise, even when idle this is possible.
3) Move your camera over the area to take into account the left and right channels to triangulate the goliath's position using your deep lizard brain skills.
To mask a goliath's noise:
1) Use engine noises of other vehicles to move the goliath up it is much louder when moving.
2) Ensure the game is a noisy one, try not to get pushed off completely until you're ready to use your goliath.
2) If you do get pushed off move the goliath back towards your base so it doesn't get found too easily.
