0I admit that with how the game sets up the bread crumbs, this is the route I expected things to take. Colin did seem rather hung up on his feelings for his life-long friend Faye, who we never see finding a significant other, and they seemed pretty inseparable when they were young. She was a huge support for him when he lacked confidence and needed a push to move forward. With him not wanting to give up his family, yet still wanting a more perfect life, removing his unresolved feelings for her could give him that sense of acceptable at how his life went, without the hang-up of missing out on what could have been. Admittedly, I did expect her to have a tragic death, which would have been the center of his spiral, but that's not exactly what transpires.
