Chapter 10: Turning Traitor (Part 1/2)

Ephraim arrives at a port town in order to cross the sea to Grado's territory. But Emperor Vigarde has foreseen this, and has sent a number of his troops to ambush the prince. General Duessel heads the attack, but is suspected of treason after questioning his orders. And for attempting to settle down and speak with Ephraim, General Selena sends the troops after him as well. Ephraim arrives on the scene as the Grado forces surround Duessel, and is forced to jump right into the fight in order to save his former mentor.

Oh boy, this chapter. This chapter is annoying as all hell normally, and the fact that I decided to give Ephraim a low number of soldiers really didn't help. A low number of weak units. One of which is almost useless because of the annoying ballistae that are placed on boats.
Okay, so no matter what, you're going to be under some heavy fire. I'd say it's slightly preferable to bring units with higher defense. Speed helps, as it does with most ballistae, but these things are relentless. There are two of them, and they'll definitely aim for weaker units. If luck isn't on your side, that unit is screwed.
The other annoying thing about this chapter is recruiting the units in this chapter. Duessel will more than likely hold his own, but you still need to rush to him. It's probably a good idea to recruit him before the end of the chapter, mainly so you can get him out of his hidey hole. The main reason you want to get to him fast is because Cormag will probably get himself killed once he enters the fight. You can only recruit him with Cormag and Tana, but the latter is either pinned to the start to avoid ballistae or not in the chapter in the first place.

The one good thing about this stage is the fact that it only lasts for ten turns. It's not that difficult to finish it within that time, especially if you're able to get everything done quickly. With my party, though, that just wasn't happening. If you bring some stronger units, you should be able to power through this chapter and only have to restart four times.
