Firegirl: Hack 'n' Splash Rescue DX (Platinum Longplay Part 1: Story Mode)
2Firegirl: Hack 'n' Splash Rescue DX is surprisingly not a hack and slash game, but a side scrolling shooter, with some door and random object hacking, as you splash away fires in a burning building.
The game consists of procedurally generated levels that take place in apartments, trains, forests and a giant plaza as you douse flames in search for survivors. A run is considered successful if you are able to find all survivors and escape from the area.
There is a story that slowly unfolds as you come across fire tomes in your playthrough. You are the daughter of a firefighter who plans to follow in his footsteps as you join the local fire squad. There have been issues with an unusual onslaught of fire monsters in the city which an FBI agent by the name of Chloe Nakamura is trying to get to the bottom of.
The trophy list is pretty straightforward and easy to track as there are six story related trophies that you will naturally progress towards in "Close Call", "Came Out on Top", "The Firegirl", "On the Job Training", "True Hero" and "Full House". The rest of the trophies can be tracked in the mayors office via the medals he gives you aside from "Can I Axe You a Question?" for purchasing the light axe and "Lets Chill" for purchasing the ice axe.
There are no lives, but you will lose money if you fail a mission due to infirmary fees which you can negate through upgrade purchases. What you can upgrade will occur randomly as, on occasion, a survivor you save will become a volunteer which bring different powerups to the table. There is no right way to upgrade and you will definitely not need to fully upgrade to finish the game. I recommend to cater to whatever you're struggling with at the moment. If you find yourself running out of time, upgrade your firetruck. If you're getting hit a lot, purchase armor or heart upgrades. I do recommend also upgrading your first aid when you as they are relatively cheap and save you money if you fail a mission. Another good upgrade is the one that makes all the other items cheaper which can save you money in the long run. Below I will mention what each volunteers bring to the table:
Maria: allows you to upgrade your tank size, water pressure and a one time auto-refill purchase
Shop: allows you to purchase boots, helmet and a fire coat as well as a light axe and ice axe which are awesome but way more expensive
Vinny: allows you to get government funding which pays more per mission, and negotiate taxes which makes other purchases cheaper (up to a 50% off max)
Jean Jacques: makes epic meals that will give you an extra heart tank
Lupe: fan fundraising perks which come in either fan increase and more fan donations (this character doesn't seem to have a max level - I grinded for hours lol)
Klutch: Rigs your truck so you can get to the site faster making your start time higher (very recommended)
Kareem: teaches you first aid so you can finally use first aid kits. Upgrades including increase the health tanks first aid kits fill and decreasing expenses when failing a mission (relatively cheap and worth it)
Firedog: doesn't have upgrades but will let you know if you're going to leave an area with a survivor
