In February 2008, Daniel "D2k" Salazar recorded this tutorial (originally in 10 separate videos) to show Red Faction fans how to set up and import custom first person weapons into Red Faction - a pretty unknown process at the time. These videos have over the years helped countless Red Faction mod developers, and now they're all merged together and here on YouTube for your convenience.

NOTE 1: The Red Faction 3ds Max plugins will work only with 3ds max 4.x or 5.x.

NOTE 2: D2k said the section that starts at 3:53 (preparing the arms) is only necessary if you're using 3ds Max 4.x. If you're using 5.x, you can skip that section and go straight to the section on preparing bones (21:57)

As mentioned at the start of the video, D2k prepared some resources to accompany this tutorial. You can download those files here: https://www.factionfiles.com/ff.php?action=file&id=517318

The official RF Toolkit contains the plugins and tools used in this tutorial. You can download the toolkit here: https://www.factionfiles.com/ff.php?action=file&id=517191

Volition released some example weapon models from the game for reference. You can download those examples here: https://www.factionfiles.com/ff.php?action=file&id=517354
