Macit became the first Turk to receive the title of duchess in history.
In her post-wedding interview, Hande Macit explained the marriage and meeting process with the Prince, "We met with Alexander for fun. Speaking to the newspaper Calendar, Macit said, “I got the marriage proposal in Rotterdam. I saw it because he designed the ring himself. That's why the offer was not a surprise,” said Macit, “I always wanted to be an astronaut. "I didn't have any dreams of being a princess," she said.
"Alexander's family welcomed me very warmly. The events they attend and organize are completely different from ours, but I did not find it strange," said Macit, adding that the Prince loves Turkish food; She told that kebab, tantuni and künefe are among her favorite delicacies. The Turkish Duchess also expressed that she was very happy with the reactions from her country.
Macit said, "After the engagement, my wife and I went on holiday to Turkey. Alexander was very surprised by the heat of Çukurova. We went to Boğsak Bay together. That place I've been to since my childhood has become Alexander's favourite," said Macit. He said that the thing is that people help each other even if they don't know each other.
Macit, who went to the Netherlands for university education and studied in Rotterdam 12 years ago, met the Crown Prince of Germany's Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Duchy, Georg Alexander, in a bar. Germany's Mecklenburg Crown Prince Georg Alexander and Mersinli Hande Macit furthered the relationship they started in this entertainment. The couple recently got married.
