Fishing Planet #9 - S8 - The Wailing Catfish MONSTER of Marron River!
Fishing Planet #9 - S8 - The Wailing Catfish MONSTER of Marron River!
*** MARRON RIVER, BOLIVIA! ***
While I have been fishing in Marron River, Bolivia, I have decided to start the Monster Fish mission available here. In the last episode, I finally completed the "Marron - Speaker Sinker" mission.
Synopsis:
This huge and greedy catfish was nicknamed Wailing for a reason. The low sounds emitted by this giant resemble underwater growling and can be heard hundreds of yards away from the Marron River. Its cries spreading through the jungle can scare not only fish and animals, but also people. And although it’s known for certain that some catfish can make loud sounds, no ichthyologists have ever heard such a roar. Rest assured, they would give a lot to get their hands on such a specimen.
With my "Speaker Sinker" loaded on my Humerus Bottom Rod, I have to pilot the boat out over Marron River and explore the waterways until I finally hear something... unusual! Once I get the to north side of the Chiri Islet spawn point, I suddenly hear what sounds a lot like bubbling growls! Throwing my line in the water, I fins myself having to wait, wait, and wait some more. The growling seems to move around, so re-positioning the boat becomes necessary. After what seems like a hour, I finally manage to hook into something that I end up fighting for what seems to be 20-30 minutes! At last, I have caught the Wailing Catfish Monster of Marron River!
Key points for catching the MONSTER:
- They can only be caught at NIGHT. Evening doe NOT work!
- It seems to meander around the NORTH side of the "Chiri Islet".
- You need a very heavy rod that can handle a 10 1/2 Oz. sinker!
- You may need to re-position your boat to get closer to the sounds.
- Do NOT drop the anchor! This fish weighs almost 200 pounds! You
need to let it pull you around to tire itself!
- Any large catfish-preferred bait should work.
- You may catch other species, so keep trying!
- Patience is seriously required. This fish is in no hurry!
