Fix Steam Games Slow Download Speed - Download Faster
9In this video I show you how to fix Steam games slow download speed. You may be experiencing slow download speeds if the limit download speed option is enabled. You can find this option in the Steam settings under the download menu. When the limit download speed option is enabled then the speed that you can download Steam games on will be reduced.
Another reason why your Steam games may be downloading slowly is because you're currently playing a game. Steam will typically pause downloads when you have a game open, to ensure that the game doesn't experience lag. If you would prefer Steam to download while you're playing games then you can turn on the "Allow downloads during gameplay" option. Again, this setting can be found in the downloads settings.
If your Steam games are still downloading too slow then you can try changing the download region. Although this won't always work, changing the region to another nearby location can sometimes make the download faster.
Another solution to fix slow Steam download speeds is to is to clear Download cache. Doing so will restart Steam and sign you out. However, this can help make your download faster. This is due to cache or saved data from previous and current downloads being removed.
Although not always possible, a reliable way to increase download speeds is to use an ethernet connection. Directly connecting to the internet with an ethernet connection ensures that you are getting the best download speeds possible.
If you have no other option than to use Wi-Fi then there may still be another option. Many routers will output 2 Wi-Fi signals, a 2.4GHz and a 5GHz. If this is the case then switching to the 5GHz option will typically provide better download speeds, allowing you to download games on Steam faster.
Whenever downloading games on Steam it's always a good option to close other applications that may be using the internet. This will ensure that Steam is getting the focus when it comes to data transfer.
