Here's how to Fix Windows Migration Assistant not working.

Windows Migration Assistant is a software that helps you transfer your contacts, calendars, email accounts, and more from your Windows PC to your Mac. However, sometimes it may not work properly due to various reasons, such as internet connection issues, software conflicts, hard disk errors, outdated operating system, etc. To fix this issue, you can try the following solutions:

- Disable Startup Boost in Edge. This feature may prevent Migration Assistant from opening by keeping Edge running in the background. To disable it, open Edge, click the three dots at the top right and select Settings. In the search box in Edge settings, type boost and disable startup boost and the other setting to allow apps and extensions to run when Edge shuts down. Restart your PC and try to open Migration Assistant again.

- Temporarily disable Windows Firewall. This may block the connection between your PC and Mac. To disable it, go to Settings - Update & Security - Windows Security - Firewall & network protection. Select your active network and turn off Windows Defender Firewall. Remember to turn it on again after you finish transferring your data.

- Run CHKDSK. This may fix any hard disk errors that may affect Migration Assistant. To run CHKDSK, open Command Prompt as administrator and type chkdsk /f /r and press Enter. Wait for the scan to complete and restart your PC.

- Run Migration Assistant in compatibility mode. This may help if you are using an older version of Windows or macOS. To do this, right-click the Migration Assistant icon and select Properties. Go to the Compatibility tab and check Run this program in compatibility mode for. Select a previous version of Windows from the drop-down list and click OK. Try to open Migration Assistant again².
- Manually transfer the files. If none of the above solutions work, you can use other methods to transfer your files from PC to Mac, such as using an external hard drive, a cloud service, or a file sharing app.
