FIX: You are sharing your connection over the 5 GHz network band in Windows 10 | Unlimited Solutions
An adapter is a dual-band that needs to configure. So, Windows knows which band you want to use either 2.4GHz or 5GHz for the virtual router.
However, if you are connected to the network using the 2.4GHz band, and if you are using the adapter to create a virtual hotspot, that would explain the reason that can only create an 802.11n 5.0 GHz hotspot. You can't create a virtual network on the same band you are connected, to an existing network.
