0When I was a kid in the 1970s we'd go to South Bass Island (Put-in-Bay) by the ferry every summer and rent bikes and ride around the island. We'd watch the Ford Trimotor (1928) land and take off from the airport. My memory is it crashed and was rebuilt several times. In 1977 it crashed for the final time destroying the aircraft and severely injuring the pilot and 2 passengers.
Here's me in Flight Simulator 2020 landing a Ford Trimotor on the island. I take off from Rattlesnake Island, buzz Perry's monument, and then land at the airport. Ok I overshot the runway a bit. And hit a house. Any landing you can walk away from, right?
