Something I found amazing when playing with planetarium apps... Orion is one of the most recognisable constellations in the sky, yet the middle star of the "belt" is incredibly, incredibly far away despite being so obviously visible. Hayden Planetarium gives a good idea of its distance in relation to other stars. Think about that for a bit.
