Hector "H3CZ" Rodriguez, OpTic Gaming owner, is the star of the 380th Episode of 'Reflections'. This episode is part one of two about H3CZ's career.

H3CZ is an esports icon for the dynasties and brands he helped create and nuture within the OpTic Gaming Call of Duty team. Names like Nadeshot, Scump, Crimsix, FormaL and Karma will ring out forever in the history of the franchise and his team was a famous home for them all.

Throughout the many different versions of the game there were many different times OpTic were at the time, with names like Scump and Crimsix considered potentially the best player ever, but it was also the cultural impact the organisation had which remains memorable. Their fanbase, dubbed "The Green Wall", has shown a rabid loyalty and willingness to transition between games which is still incredible to consider in today's media-driven age.

There were moves made into games like Counter-Strike and League of Legends, but while the former showed some success and the latter not much it was a surprising move into VALORANT which established another dynasty. OpTic were arguably the best team of 2022 but an unsuccessful VCT partnership application saw them forced to break apart.

In part one, H3CZ talks about the significance of branding, why entertainment matters more than results right now, who the great names were to him and how he has cultivated OpTic's fanbase.

This interview was recorded on the 12th of April, 2024.
