" Chapter 4: Season 1, also known as Season 23, is the twenty-third season of Fortnite: Battle Royale and the first season of Chapter 4. The season started after the downtime concluded taking place after Chapter 3: Season 4's live event Fracture concluded. It started on December 4th, 2022 and will conclude on March 10th, 2023.
Previously, in Fortnite...
In Chapter 3: Season 4, a mysterious substance called 'Chrome' started appearing on the island and started spreading. The Herald's Sanctum was then built on the abandoned Sanctuary. The Herald of The Last Reality and The Nothing appeared and planned to use the Zero Point to chromify all Realities.
The Herald finally begins to destroy the island and chromes the entire Loop, and destroys both Apollo and Artemis including herself, leaving the Loopers to collect Zero Point Fragments to initiate Zero Fusion. Slowly, pieces of the islands and realities were being reforged for a fusion. The Paradigm sacrifices herself to initiate Zero Fusion, causing the existing and new pieces of reality to fuse together into Asteria. Parts of Apollo and Artemis and Reality 659 Where all Combined together by the Zero Point.
Welcome to Chapter 4
The Loopers were ordered to collect Zero Point Fragments to initiate Zero Fusion. It was successful and the Zero Point slowly started to fuse fragments from other realities, rebuilding Reality Zero and the island, now called Asteria.

This is the fifth season to start on a Sunday, the fourth being Chapter 3: Season 4, the third being Chapter 3: Season 3, the second being Chapter 3: Season 2, and the first, Chapter 3: Season 1. This is the first season of Chapter 4 to start on a Sunday.
This is the first season since Season 1 to have the Battle Royale sub-title in the promotional material, as the release of Unreal Editor later this season will make Fortnite a game platform.
The Ageless is the first non-collaboration Level 100 Outfit since Spire Assassin in Chapter 2: Season 6.
The Spawn Island is in space. Due to that, the Battle Bus has Rocket Engines on its back.
This is the first season since Chapter 2: Season 1 to not feature a slogan in promotional material.
