This is Foundation brought to us by Polymorph Games. In this episode we are going to be making things a little prettier, but also hoping to get those homes upgraded yet again. These homes change looks very much when they upgrade to the final level. We should make more fountains and trees to match the new look!

Foundation is a medieval city building simulation which uses it's own engine that breaks free of grids based building. It features all the basics you would expect in a city building game complete with managing resources such as food and water down to setting up lumber mills and farms and wells. Where it changes things up is in the way that you designate areas and the ways roads are built. These are two rather interesting concepts in and of themselves. You villagers will build roads gradually over time as they walk from one area to another. They build homes where they want based on desirability in zones that you designate for housing. The end result is something that greatly resembles a medieval village in both is asymmetry and it's non linear development.

Then you have the advancement of your citizens plus it's monument design. First off your citizens will progress through different levels of societal advancement as they get new resources. Once that happens the resources they need increase and new types are introduced. This has been done before in games like Anno, so it's not original albeit still a nice feature that adds to the complexity of how you design your village / kingdom. I say "kingdom" because that's what it is. Eventually you unlock monument buildings, and these things are large. They also convey large bonuses, but that's not the neatest part about them. They are custom built and respond very well to the surrounding terrain. This enables churches and keeps that acutally look quite impressive and fit right in to the feel of everything else, with your own personal touch.
