FreeDoom is essentially an open-source version of the original Doom, with all different graphics, sounds, and so forth. It's a pretty decent game, though I will say that it's certainly got that "unfinished and unprofessional" look and feel.

If you want to play it, you'll need a source port. I recommend ZDoom (even though you'll probably need a frontend to play something like FreeDoom): http://zdoom.org/Download
