The 2022 remake of Front Mission, via Steam. I have videos for the original SNES version and the DS port if you want to compare. This remake is more or less the DS version with 3D graphics.

Notes
In the playthroughs I’ve done for the SNES and DS versions, I ignored the Arena and made due with the rewards you got from missions. For this third playthrough, I did use the arena. This makes the game significantly easier.
The shopping sections are sped up because it’s still just apply the same set up to multiple Wanzers over and over and over again. To prevent the copyright issues I had with the SNES and DS versions from that blatant plagiarist, I once again replace the shop theme with the setup theme. I’m sure Square took action with the release of this remake but I don’t want to deal with it years from now if that ape decides to try to claim it again.
If you’re not familiar with this game, it’s not particularly well balanced due to how skill points work.
The more you have, the more accurate and damaging your attacks are. You also gain more and more skill points per part destroyed as you progress, so things eventually spin out of control. The mission design seems, to me anyway, to completely ignore this aspect of the gameplay and just slaps enemies on each map for you to blast.
The various special abilities, like speed or guide can be leveled up by triggering them. From what I can tell, it’s completely random whether or not they’ll level up rather than being a required number of activations.
My experience with the SNES version is that switch and double are not reliable enough to warrant taking over speed/duel.
A lot of the decisions I make are to ensure specific characters receive skill points and/or to roll the dice on a special ability activating and thus leveling up, rather than being the best tactical decision in the moment.
Will this stop dummies who don’t know how the game works from leaving drive-by comments saying I make bad decisions? No, of course not, but this is why I make bad decisions.
