Fujitsu Siemens B24W-5 LCD monitor teardown & calibration
A quick look inside a multi-CCFL (i.e, backlit rather than edge-lit) LCD monitor from around 2008.
This monitor was sitting outside in the snow. I was expecting it to be full of water, but it thankfully wasn't. I was very surprised to find out that it powered up just fine, straight out of the garbage can - and even more surprised to find out that it seemed to be performing excellently.
I think this is the first consumer grade LCD monitor I've seen that's come fully loaded with Chemi-con capacitors in the power supply. FS deserve a very big thumbs up for the initiative.
