Fighting games prior to Street Fighter II tend to be janky and Galactic Warriors is no exception: due to its 3 button control, you change your weapon with the third weapon instead of freely using one of your techniques with one of buttons; it uses shmup extends instead of round system, it has janky collisions and the enemy AI is explicitly manipulatable with varying difficulty.
The game's difficulty maxes out at third loop. In the second and third loop skills, weaponry and aggressiveness of enemies are selectively upgraded: for example, 3-5 AI is fully static, but it is not manipulatable, so you have to memorize at least 17 moves after which you can spam your attack, while 2-5 AI is fully manipulated.
