It's the 1400s, just after the Crusades (as the English keep time), and there's a weak king on the throne. You can see where this is going. The Houses Plantangent and Lancaster go to war- ignoring a growing menace in the North.

By which I mean House Lannister rids itself of the drunkard King Robert, and starts a war, forcing House Stark's hand and causing them to declare independence so that they may protect their sacred trust, slaying Wildlings (Freemen) and warding against the Night King. Robb Stark takes an army to investigate his father's death at Dragonstone, gathering the lesser houses of the North under one King.

You are House Forrester, a squire of the loyal bannerman for House Stark. The war had begun, winter has come and you're serving under Robb. Obviously you lose, and you're a fly on the wall as the insurgence is put down by the iron fist of the Lannisters. Sadly Cersei becomes much more understandable in the face of the North's intrigues.
