GameForce ACE ROCKNIX (Linux CFW) Quick Setup Guide
17In this video, I'm providing a quick set up guide on how to install ROCKNIX (Linux CFW) on my GameForce ACE.
ROCKNIX (20250118) quick setup steps:
• Go to the latest ‘release’ of the ROCKNIX GitHub page, scroll down to the ‘installation’ section, download the image/package for GameForce ACE (20250118.img.gz – zipped file): https://github.com/ROCKNIX/distribution/releases
• Unzip/extract the downloaded zip file to get the disk image file
• Insert the micro-SD card in your PC, if it’s a brand-new micro-SD card, no need to format it, if it’s a used micro-SD card, you need to format it using ‘SD Card Formatter’
• Flash/copy/write the ROCKNIX image file onto the micro-SD card (using Rufus or balenaEtcher)
• Take the micro-SD card out, insert it back in your device (label facing down)
• Boot up/turn on your device, go to ‘Tools’, install ROCKNIX
• Once the installation is complete, shut the device down, take out the micro-SD card from the device, boot up, ROCKNIX will run from the eMMC
• Since I have a 256GB storage, I copied my bios & roms directly on the internal storage (I didn’t use a micro-SD card to put my bios and roms on it)
• I’m using the SFTP/SSH method to copy my roms and bios: use your SFTP program of choice (I’m using WinSCP), set up a new session in WinSCP (while your device in on), make sure your SSH and HTTP server are enabled on your device (network settings), write your device’s host name, which is ‘RK3588’ (you can get it from the ‘network settings’ on your device) in the ‘Host name’, make sure the port number is set to ‘22’, write ‘root’ for username and ‘rocknix’ for password, click ‘log in’ and say ‘yes’ to the ‘warning – potential security breach’
• Once you are inside your device (wirelessly), you’ll see the ‘root directory’, where you can find your ‘roms’ folder to transfer/copy your roms, inside the ‘roms’ folder, you’ll find the ‘bios’ folder to transfer/copy your bios
• For supported emulators/cores/file formats (roms), please see the ‘systems’ section of the wiki for details on where each system's files should be placed
