Games We Never Wanted to End!
Last video, viewer Marvin Conman mentioned games "We Don't To End". I thought that was a great idea. So here's my take on games I loved so much, I didn't want to see them end.
Guys, have I ever told ya A Hat in Time is one of if not my favorite game of all time? Why is that? Guys it pulls me back in. It never ends. Sure, the base game only has 40 time pieces, but it's had 2 DLCs and the fan community has kept it alive. Creating map after map with plenty of creative timepieces.
So that begs the question. Have you ever played a game that you love? The lore, the movement, the world building, the mechanics of it and thought “I dont want this game to ever end.” I know I have. So let's look at some games that I wish would never finish. This idea was contributed by Marvin Conway. Personally, I'm going to be leaving off games with sequels. Even though I loved Mario Galaxy and never wanted it to end, it did get a sequel that's just as good. Other games like Fallout 4 and Grand Theft Auto 5 are games I wish would never end, and honestly, I also feel like they never end.
Though some games could make this list even if they got sequels due to change in mechanics, development teams, and the like. So be sure to leave your suggestions and recommendations in the comments below.
I got to start with the game I probably say this the most about Pokemon Red Blue and Yellow. The second I say Marvin's comments from our last video, this was the first game I thought of. This game really doesn't have much of a post game. Sure, fighting Mewtwo is epic. But I've always felt like there's no reason to get all your Mons to level 100 other than to fight your friends. When you look at the way Silver and Gold let you return to Kanto and fight Red, the OG Pokemon Games felt a little hollow. Not to mention, a post game that made it possible to collect all 150 of the base Pokemon would have been nice. Or even a battle tower like area so we had more trainers to battle would have motivated me to keep training and battling and staying with it.
Next up is Kirby 64. Kirby 64 is a game I've beaten and desperately wanted more power combinations, more levels, and more shards to collect. On one hand, I feel like the game masterfully blends simplicity of level design on a 2D plane with a tad bit of complexity from the power-ups. The length is also near perfect. So maybe I'm greedy for wishing more content was put in the game, but it would be so awesome to dust off Kirby 64 and have a new world to explore. A power up to discover. Or a reason to revisit levels that are old favorites. As it is, I still think Kirby 64 is a 2D masterpiece and one of my favorite platformers of all time. Can you blame me for wanting more?
The game we're going to talk about is Nintendoland. It's a weird choice, but hang with me for a second. I love party games. But since I'm omitting sequels, it eliminates Pokemon Stadium and the Mario Party franchise. Even Wii Sports got a sequel. I think Nintendoland should have at least got a DLC to include Splatoon. For those of you who don't know. Nintendoland was a Wii U launch title that was a digital amusepark/arcade showcasing some of Nintendos' biggest franchises like Mario, Zelda, Metroid and Pikmin (heck Murasame's Castle made it in). Yet, some of Nintendos' biggest characters weren't featured, some who even got Wii U titles later on. These characters include Fox and Kirby. I get Nintendoland not getting a full-fledged sequel, but a DLC was definitely in order.
So, guys, those are some of the games I wanted to focus on today. Let me know what games you never wanted to end.
