Those who watched my streams a couple of months ago remember how for some time I got stuck in a game about a post-apocalypse with crafting and building a base. I even had my own clan, which included my subscribers, and together we mined resources and fought enemies who kept trying to raid us. But very few people know what kind of history this game and its developers had to go through, which eventually created a whole gaming genre.
Rust is a multiplayer survival sandbox game developed by British studio Facepunch Studios. In the beginning, Rust mimicked DayZ, a popular mod for ARMA 2, only with crafting elements. DayZ is the cradle of many survival projects. Of the most popular besides Rust, for example, PUBG was originally a modified DayZ.
In Rust, we have to survive in the wasteland, extracting resources and materials and creating the necessary items, weapons from them, and building a base and social ties. Initially, we appear naked in a world without any tools and knowledge to survive. In the beginning we will use ordinary stone to get the first resources, from which we will further create tools for better mining and weapons to protect the defense, build the first dwelling and develop further. At the same time, we need to constantly monitor our health, hunger and thirst so as not to die. In addition, wild animals, NPCs on foot and on vehicles, and especially other players who are constantly looking for an opportunity to profit at our expense, pose a danger to the player. Therefore, in order to survive, it is important to find allies and create clans, or join them. Although players with more experience may well cope on their own.
