Link: The Faces of Evil is an action-adventure video game developed by Animation Magic and published by Philips Interactive Media for the CD-i. It is based on Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda franchise, but is not considered an official entry in the game series, and is one of three Zelda titles released for the CD-i.
Link: The Faces of Evil puts the player in control of Link, who goes on a quest to defeat Ganon and rescue Princess Zelda, traveling to a new world called Koridai to thwart Ganon's plans. At the time of its release the game received mixed to positive reviews. In later years, it, along with Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon, Zelda's Adventure, and Mario game Hotel Mario, have become infamous with modern critics, which has led to the three games being considered not only the worst games in the Zelda franchise but also among the worst video games of all time.
The story begins in Hyrule Castle, where a bored Link discusses the prospects of new adventure with King Harkinian. Soon, Link's hopes are fulfilled, as a wizard named Gwonam arrives on a magic carpet, telling them that Ganon and his minions have taken over the island of Koridai. Although King Harkinian immediately offers aid, Gwonam explains that according to a prophecy, "only Link can defeat Ganon". Link is transported to Koridai and Gwonam shows him the fabled island's giant stone statues, known as the Faces of Evil, which Link must conquer. During Link's time in Koridai, Princess Zelda is kidnapped by Ganon and imprisoned in his lair.
