The third model in Garmin's Descent G1 series is the Descent G1 Solar – Ocean Edition. Called the'most sustainable multiuse watch ever' by Garmin, the Ocean Edition is only available with solar charging.
More than eight months after the Descent G1 and Descent G1 Solar launches, Garmin has updated the Descent G1 series. Notably, the Descent MK3, which we have discussed separately, and the new Descent G1 model arrive on the same day. To the best of our knowledge, the new Descent G1 model has one notable difference from its siblings - albeit one that Garmin is proud to highlight.
Garmin has confirmed that only the watch's buttons, bezel, and housing are made of this material, but it has not disclosed where these plastics come from. As a result, the silicone watch strap that comes with the Descent G1 Solar - Ocean Edition is still included. With a retail price of $649.99, the Ocean Edition is priced similarly to the Descent G1 Solar Edition. To put it briefly, the new model has the exact same hardware as the standard Descent G1 Solar Edition; for more details, please refer to our video about the series launch. Orders for the Descent G1 Solar – Ocean Edition can be placed right now, but delivery won't begin until at least the end of November.
