Garry's Mod Video Game Review (About In Description)
0Garry's Mod is a first person Half Life inspired game that incorporates many elements from all of Valve's games, and basically is just that - a mod. The modding potential of this game is insane. Mods are basically the branding for this game and they are surely the biggest aspect of the game. There is no real way to describe the gameplay because it differs from mod to mod, but most people just like to mess around with their friends and build funny looking contraptions out of the objects that you can find in the "Spawn menu" and the Steam Workshop. That leads me to my next point - Garry's Mod is basically the Steam Workshop, it's even implemented into the game as a gameplay feature. Garry's mod provides a lot of fun and creative freedom for those who seek this in modern day titles, but then again this game has had a long life, just like Team Fortress 2 this game has been on the Steam store for many years now. Of course, that means it is well rounded and fully developed.
Personally, I can only play this game with friends because, to be honest, playing by yourself can get kind of boring especially in this game. I'd say the strongest point of this game is its ease of creating servers and inviting friends to play with you through the Steam in-game menu. Every time I play Garry's Mod it reminds me of Half Life 2, probably because it is basically Half Life 2, well a mod for it anyway. And of course, I believe the price you have to pay for this game is well justified, though if it would be more expensive I probably would not be so happy.
Just like Team Fortress 2, this game has been around for a very long time, so obviously, it has been catered to the liking of the community. That is why it has such great reviews and is praised by PC gamers for having the potential to mod as much as they want. And also just like Team Fortress 2 it is a PC gaming relic, a true masterpiece and can't be copied because it is just not possible to make a game that good at everything it offers. Every element of the game is been redone probably a million times just to suit the needs of the players, and even with it losing a bit of its popularity the YouTube community is keeping it alive and well.
Even though the game is great and full of content for everyone to enjoy it cannot keep its players in shape. For a while, Garry's Mod has been losing its player base. Partially because it's one of the few games that Valve doesn't pay attention to anymore and also is not free. Garry's Mod receives updates very rarely, and when it does they are quite insignificant, like for example a GUI change or bug fix. That is why the community is plummeting into the abyss with almost no hope of getting back out.
This game is fun, fully developed, and content filled. Garry's Mod can provide you and your friends a fun time and a great experience and is a must have for any PC gamer.
