We heard back in June that Gears 5's progression would be completely overhauled, removing a Season Pass, DLC Maps, and RNG loot crates.

BUT. Not all is as it seems. This video will attempt to show some of the design flaws regarding this "cross progression" system across Horde Mode and Escape Mode (and Arcade Mode, to a limited extent).

The inclusion of baked in character classes and compartmentalized loot drops (tied to real world merchandise codes) makes true customization impossible. Also, why are characters gated?

All of this, and more, in a long form review of multiplayer.
