0In Gears of War 2, players return to the war-torn world of Sera, where humanity faces extinction at the hands of the brutal Locust Horde. The story picks up shortly after the events of the first Gears of War, with the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) struggling to protect the last human city, Jacinto. The Locusts have begun sinking entire cities from beneath, leaving humanity with few options.
Marcus Fenix, the game's main protagonist, and his friend Dominic "Dom" Santiago, both elite members of Delta Squad, are sent on a mission to strike directly at the Locust stronghold underground. As they descend into the depths of Sera, they uncover horrifying truths about the Locusts’ plans and the impact of the conflict on the Locusts themselves. Along the way, Dom continues a personal quest to find his missing wife, Maria, who was lost during an earlier Locust invasion.
The plot thickens as Delta Squad discovers that the Locusts are themselves under threat from a mysterious force called the Lambent, mutated Locust creatures infected by a volatile substance known as Imulsion. This revelation forces Marcus and his team to confront the possibility of a larger, even more catastrophic threat to both the Locusts and humanity.
The story crescendos with Delta Squad’s daring assault on the Locust capital and an intense battle to save Jacinto. In a desperate, all-or-nothing effort, Marcus and his team are faced with decisions that could determine the fate of their world. Gears of War 2 builds on the first game’s themes of sacrifice, loyalty, and the personal toll of warfare, delivering an emotionally charged narrative that pushes the characters—and players—to their limits.
