This level was almost impossible for me. I had to do every single speed strat I could think of to get sub 1, and at one point I really thought I wasn't up to the task. It really pushed my limits, as you can tell by how upset and frustrated I was during the runs, and how elated I was afterwards.
I failed so many times at the end... The end robot is really inconsistent and hard to do fast. I counted that I died 8 times at the end. Additionally, I also had 3 choked runs where I got a 1:00 or 1:01 time, with the closest failed run being a 1:00.06 (shown in the video)
To anyone who wants to replicate this, make sure to practice the hell out of these parts:
- Robot 1. The timing required to skip the yellow jump pad is very hard.
- Ship 1. The straight fly is so unbelievably inconsistent no matter what you do. I think you can't even really straight fly due to the moving objects, it seems better to try to maintain a "sine wave" motion.
- Robot 2. The blue orb timing in particular is deviously difficult as it is way tighter than it looks. You die if you hit it too early (don't hit the platform) and you die if you hit it too late (hit the monster when you jump)
- Ship 2. It's not that bad with some practice, but your ship motions need to be on point at the start.
- Memory Cube. This is not so bad timing-wise compared to other parts, but visibility is low and it will take a while to learn for sure.
- Final Robot. The robot at the end looks so easy, but it is very very chokeable. You need to jump earlier then you expect to clear the first moving wall, then slow down to 2x at the perfect time so the 2nd moving wall has time to lower, hit the purple orb late, then QUICKLY speed up to 4x as soon as it is survivable. this 4x speed thing is crucial as it is the main reason you could choke sub 1.
MY GOD i'm glad this is over. I think i will go for either Dry Out or Cycles next.
