Getting a Full Set of T-60 PA at Level One.
0You do not have to kill Duke to get his power armor. You can shoot out the fusion core powering his suit. What will this do? This will force him out of the suit. You can run up to it and take it. This will count as stealing. Everything will be highlighted in red. Everything, including the individual pieces, will be labelled as "owned." Why is that bad? Dependent on who is with you, every time you enter the power armor, if your companion does not like stealing, you will lose affinity with them. If all of your companions are at one settlement, and you enter the power armor at that settlement, you will lose a bit of affinity to everyone of your companions who do not like stealing. The same thing applies when it comes to picking up/moving an individual piece of the armor. Entering the stolen power armor in a public place is not a good idea. Every time you enter it, even though they do not own it themselves, everyone around you will start to attack you. It is up to you on whether or not you think killing him is worth it.
Duke is not an essential character. Killing him will not have that big of an impact on your game. You will still be able to complete the "Atom Cats" quest line. He will assist you in the final fight of their quest line. After you complete it, he will hang around the garage. Some individuals claim that after you complete the quest, he will despawn. It is up to you on whether or not you want to kill him.
