Jin Sakai approached Goro, Lord Shimura's pirate contact, with a crucial mission. They met near Goro's ship, along with Lord Shimura, to discuss their plan. Knowing that Goro needed to sober up, Jin and Lord Shimura decided to create a diversion to buy him enough time to set sail past the Mongol armada.
They devised a plan to launch a daring assault on the Yarikawa's fortress, strategically timed to divert the Mongol forces and draw their attention away from Goro's ship. By engaging the enemy in battle, Jin and Lord Shimura aimed to create a window of opportunity for Goro to navigate his vessel through the fleet unnoticed.
However, they were aware of the formidable challenge posed by the Mongols' new weapon, the Hwacha. The Hwacha was a siege weapon brought from Goryeo, capable of launching a barrage of flaming projectiles from a handcart. Jin saw an opportunity in this deadly weapon and considered how they could turn it against their enemies.
As they infiltrated the Yarikawa fortress, Jin kept an eye out for any sign of the Hwacha. If they could secure control of the weapon, they would have a powerful tool at their disposal. Jin's knowledge of Mongol tactics and weaponry allowed him to quickly assess how to operate the Hwacha effectively.
Once they gained control of the Hwacha, Jin and Lord Shimura used it strategically against the Mongol forces. The flaming projectiles rained down upon the enemy, causing chaos and confusion among their ranks. This distraction allowed Goro's ship to navigate through the Mongol armada, virtually undetected.
With the Hwacha wreaking havoc upon the enemy and the diversionary attack at the Yarikawa fortress successfully drawing the Mongols' attention, Goro's ship seized the opportunity to sail towards the mainland. On board, Goro carried a message from Jin, urgently requesting additional samurai warriors from the shogunate to join the fight against the Mongol invaders.
