Jin, a skilled fighter, is on a mission to meet his trusted ally Norio in the peaceful region of Kamiagata. However, his journey takes an unexpected turn when he meets a strange monk who praises the Mongols. The monk warns Jin that the Mongols have threatened to harm both the monks and innocent people if they don't obey their demands. Troubled by this, Jin believes that Norio is the key to defeating the Mongols and protecting the sacred traditions of Cedar Temple.
Curious, Jin secretly follows the mysterious monk to a farmhouse, where he reunites with Norio. Norio tells Jin that he has been training monks from Cedar Temple and neighboring temples to take back Cedar Temple from the enemy. However, Norio is worried because they haven't heard from the monks at Kushi Temple. Despite this setback, Norio remains determined, inspired by the presence of the monks from Kushi outside the temple. This gives Norio and Jin hope for their mission.
At dawn, Jin and Norio make a detailed plan to infiltrate Cedar Temple and confront the Mongol soldiers. Luckily, they discover that the Mongols haven't taken any hostages in the temple, which makes them more determined. They fight fiercely, using their sword skills and strong spirit. Although they suffer losses, Jin and Norio succeed in reclaiming Cedar Temple from the Mongols.
After the intense battle, Norio reflects on the sacrifices made and the damage to the temple. He finds solace in the main hall, where he meets Enjo, the guardian of Cedar Temple. Enjo confesses to Norio that he betrayed the temple to the Mongols, leading to the destruction of Hochi, Kushi Temple, and Akashima. Despite this, Norio forgives Enjo, seeing his remorse. Norio stays with Enjo during his brother's last moments, while Jin goes outside to express his grief through playing his flute.
