1Lynx I felt is the point when bosses start to become tougher in the game and after beating them Bernard gets a second permanent possessed spirit. If one is defeated you can switch to the other and I believe the defeated one starts regaining HP. This point in the story plants the seeds for Lily's backstory, the story won't fully kick in till the dungeon after the next one but this hints at what is yet to come ;).
