I foolishly didn't pay enough attention, so I didn't know that weapons have ranked as well. I did level up my weapon, but today once it reaches the last upgrade in the upgrade tree, I got an option to pay 1000 coins and increase the rank of the weapon.

Keep in mind that leveling up your weapons take time, so make sure you keep upgrading them once the previous research is finished. You can expedite it using gems, what I did as you can see in this Ghostbusters World gameplay video.

Also note that you need a lot of coins, so make sure you farm for them by doing missions, capturing and dismantling ghosts, etc. I think I got most of my coins from dismantling ghosts and I continue to do so.

So if you haven't paid attention to leveling up your weapons or you didn't know that weapon ranks in Ghostbusters World exist, now you know. I learned from my mistakes, and from now on I keep upgrading my weapons so I can deal with more powerful rare ghosts and bosses.
