A GeForce RTX 4090 WindForce V2 displays a distinctive power connector design. The power connector design sets it apart from other RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 custom models where the PCB covers only a segment of the card's length and the cooling system occupies the rest. The RTX 4090 WindForce V2 adopts a different approach, where half of the cooling system's extended segment is recessed to expose the PCB's tail end. The unique positioning of the 16-pin 12VHPWR power input at the card's tail end rather than the top contributes to this uniqueness. The redesigned layout improves cable management by negating the need for a near 180° bend as the power cable exits the motherboard tray. Instead, the cable connects directly to the connector, requiring an approximately 8 cm straight length before making a 90° turn towards the motherboard tray's backside. This layout lessens mechanical strain on the connector, provides cleaner cable management, and accommodates the NVIDIA-provided 4x 8-pin to 12VHPWR adapter. The RTX 4090 WindForce V2 also features dual-BIOS functionality, allowing users to alternate between a factory-OC profile and a Silent BIOS, which operates the card at reference speeds with optimized fan controls. The power connector design, however, stands as the card's primary distinguishing attribute. The redesigned cooling system maintains the 12VHPWR connector on the board, albeit on the opposite side, promoting superior cable management and reducing concerns about clearance for cable bending. It should be noted, however, that in this configuration, the cable remains exposed. The RTX 4090 WindForce V2 was not formally announced but appeared quietly on GIGABYTE's website along with other RTX 4090 models. Despite its discreet debut, the card is available for purchase, with early adopters in China integrating it into their new builds.
