Giryriz Area51-m Cooler - FIX/MOD for MANUAL CONTROL in case of USB failure.
The Giryriz Smart Laptop Cooler is made specifically for the Alienware Area51-m R2 laptop and when working? Is hands down the most effective cooler in existence for the Area51m R1/R2 machines. It features max fan speeds of 5000rpm and *supposedly* operates via USB and an internal processor to adjust fan speeds on the fly. Mine, however, as with many others, failed after a month of use. So instead of throwing it in the trash, I took it apart and simply ran each of the four fans to a super cheap, Kingwin four channel fan controller and then ran power to the fan controller via an also super cheap, **5 AMP** AC powered standard molex connector. I'll list links to the parts below. If you do this mod on the Giryriz cooler, or if you use the same fan controller for the somewhat well known Cooler Master U3 mod, do yourself a favor and order a **5 AMP** AC powered molex adapter and not the cheaper 2 AMP variants. The 2 AMP molex AC adapter will not power 4 high performance fans like the 5000rpm 80mm fans in the Giryriz laptop cooler. I ordered the 2 AMP adapter first and it would only run two of the Giryriz fans and even then, only at about half speed. The same molex adapter but with 5 AMP output, powers all four fans at full speed.
