*Here's my opinion of the game* :)
I am a big fan of the Alien series of movies, so naturally I loved the opportunity of being able to step into the shoes of a character trying to escape from a Xenomorph. Alien: Isolation is a good game in my opinion, filled with many references and nostalgic nods that will make you smile. However it does have some annoyances. Like constant backtracking, being a door opening simulator, and the story is quite long, and by the end it starts to get quite arduous and really starts to wear on you. The game is especially long if you are a scared wuss like me and spend the whole game walking in the crouched position.
But the game excels at recreating the atmosphere and feeling that made the Alien films so great. It has a slow suspenseful pace and doesn't play its cards too early. The music is so good!!!, it sets you heart racing. Never has been waiting for a train been so terrifying.
If you are a Aliens fan, then I would say most definitely get this game and the extra dlc. If you are not a fan, then I might say that this game is not for you and you should probably pass. The game mostly survives on the fans connection to the setting and the subject matter. Without it, it is an average horror game, with an overreaching run-time.
But I'm still dreaming of an Alien: Isolation part 2. ;D
