The world opened up to a wider audience when director Paul Verhoeven and writer Edward Neumeier adapted it into a movie of the same name in 1997. The popularity of the movie soon spawned an entire franchise, with more movies, video games, comics, and TV series following swiftly behind. One of the most interesting villains in the Starship Troopers universe is Behemecoatyl, the God Bug.
