Scores as per usual:
Story: 9/10
Very big shout out to the mid-travel world building. All of the recurring characters are interesting in their own way. All of the sidequests have their own little story tied to it. Kratos giving more and more praise to Atreus as the story progresses. It's all executed fantastically with the backdrop of a wholesome journey.

Gameplay: 8.5/10
I really enjoy the new combat style. I guess it's more representative of an older Kratos who can't tear stuff up with the same speed from his younger days. I'll mix in the gear system here: it's alright. It gives a decent amount of variety as you level up, but there isn't enough unique effects for armor in my opinion. A good thing I have to say is the light and heavy attack customization is good, although some feel much better than others. Some of the Muspelheim trials are garbage. And all of Niflheim is a roguelike system time sink and do not care for it in the slightest.

Music: 8.5/10
I like the new style they are going for with the music. More horns. One missed opportunity I'd say would be using the original theme, or at least a remade version of it in the new style, for when Kratos first gets his Blades of Chaos.

Visuals: 9.5/10
The game looks great. I have very few complaints.

Overall: 9/10
What an exceptional game. I understand and agree with why this game was many people's Game of the Year in 2018. Definitely play it if you get the chance, especially with the sequel coming.

Now I need a small break from RPG systems. Time to play some linear Uncharted 2 goodness.
