Story:
Sunpaw is a medicine cat apprentice in TimberClan. Early on into his apprenticeship he becomes very close friends with Rushpaw and Pigeonpaw.
Cats have recently begun going missing and being found brutally murdered. Sunpaw encourages his friends to question how their leader Morningstar is handling the situation.
Much to Sunpaw and Rushpaw's dismay, Pigeonpaw is announced missing soon after. Morningstar immediately orders for a search patrol where a scrap of Pigeonpaw's fur is found. They are soon forced to head back to camp as a mysterious creature threatens them from the shadows.
Unsatisfied with the results, Sunpaw takes it upon himself to look for Pigeonpaw and the other missing warrior Littlespark. He sneaks out of camp early in the morning where he finds Littlespark. Excited to see the warrior, he tells her she can come home but Littlespark attacks him, introducing herself as Spark of The Rebellion.
The Rebellion cats use Sunpaw as a hostage to attack TimberClan but he is quickly rescued and The Rebellion are fought off. After getting his wounds treated, Rushpaw tells him that in a meeting earlier in the day, Pigeonpaw was pronounced dead, crushed by a rockslide in the mountains.

Moons pass and Sunpaw and Rushpaw become friends with Chestnutpaw and Minkpaw. Eventually Rush, Chestnut and Mink receive their warrior names, Rushfeather, Chestnutshell and Minkprance. Right after their ceremony they head to a full moon meeting with the other clan, AlpineClan.
The meeting progresses smoothly until a head of buffalo trap the clans in the ruins and The Rebellion makes themselves apparent. Slate, the captain of The Rebellion, takes one of Morningstar's lives in front of the gathering and kills the TimberClan elder Wolverineheart after she stands up for her daughter Elk. After many injuries and the reveal that a lot of the cats in The Rebellion are linked to the clans, Slate reveals the Apostle, the cat who will take over The Rebellion from her much like a clan deputy. This cat is Pigeon, the same friend Sunpaw had thought had been dead this whole time.

Pigeonpaw had left camp one night and had been caught in a rock slide. She became trapped in a cave where she was injured and starving. Slate had seen the patrol looking for her and had found the apprentice instead. She gave Pigeonpaw the choice of being saved and trained by herself as the Apostle for the Rebellion or starving to death alone. Pigeonpaw accepted her offer and joined The Rebellion as Pigeon.

Sunpaw is horrified by this, feeling completely betrayed. His trust towards his clanmates falters greatly and he becomes bitter and hurt. Sunpaw is enraged at The Rebellion and Paradise (the clan's StarClan equivalent) for letting this happen to innocent cats.
