Gran Turismo 7 - Ferrari Circuit Challenge - Ferrari F8 Tributo 2019 - 1st Place
So Gran Turisimo 7 is awesome. It gets better when you play it with a REALLY nice Wheel, Gear Shifter and Pedals. It is straight up CRACK when you play it in VR.
PSVR2 has blown my mind since I got it a week after it released. I'm about 60% done with Horizon, which is fun as hell but after hearing about the time people have been spending in GT7 I had to put that on pause to play it.
You'll notice some weird shit happening with the resolution in this video on the edges of my Vision. That's due to the Foveated Rendering coming from the eye tracking. That tech is what's going to keep PSVR2 VERY relevant WAY into the PS5's lifecycle.
This thing is doing 2K resolution per eye with BEAUTIFUL OLED screens and it's doing it at 120Hz. It can only do that with a game like this because of the Eye Tracking and Foveated Rendering. When implemented properly you can free up something like 30-40% of the graphical processing overhead by simply rendering the bits your eyes aren't looking at in an insanely low resolution. You cannot tell at ALL while playing.
Look out of the corner of your eye in your peripheral. See how everything is blurry as fuck? Foveated Rendering takes advantage of that and it only renders the center of each eye at full resolution.
Since Sony is in control of the entire hardware / software stack here from the HMD all the way down to the game they can implement PROPER Foveated Rendering. That's something you're not going to see in PCVR for a good long time I think. The Quest Pro has eye tracking but then the game developers need to actually take advantage of that eye tracking to produce a really great looking game with all that freed up GPU overhead. So far all the Quest Pro uses Eye Tracking for is so your avatar can look in different directions while keeping your head still. Talk about a TOTAL waste of an excellent feature...
Let me know if you like PSVR2 content like this. It's super easy to record and upload to YouTube.
