Beat Saber - osu!memories - SakiZ - Mapped by a SHIT LOAD of mappers
EDIT: Audio will cut out in one part of this video because Japanese copyright holders are fucking brutal.
This version of osu!memories is SO much better than the original, however the star rating of this map seems WAY off to me.
I've noticed that long songs don't seem to get a boost to the star rating just because they're long. That makes sense since you can pause during a play. But there's just NOTHING in this map that makes me say "yeah, this is an almost 9 star map". There's no fast jumps, no super complex patterns. There's a bit of a fast stream at the end but it's a totally standard stream. Nothing complex about it.
Then I play songs like Ether Strike or Goodbye and try to compare the difficulty to this and they're just not comparable.
On the whole I'd say whatever they're using to rank songs works pretty well. But when it doesn't work well it REALLY doesn't work well. I don't think they ever got the AI Bot to a point where they use it to rank all the songs. It's a shame if that project fell dead because the last time I saw a demo of it like 2 years ago it was so fucking impressive.
I feel like Scoresaber is just letting BeatLeader eat their pie. I'm ok with that because I feel BeatLeader is genuinely a better solution but Scoresaber was on a really good trajectory. I think the straw that broke the camel's back was total ignorance of the two new play mechanics. First off, if there's no reason WHATSOEVER that a map with just arcs and no chains should limit the ability for Scoresaber to score a map. When it comes to chain notes, I can't remember what the excuse is for how "broken" they are but they're clearly not going to be "fixed". So what's scoresaber's plan? Just ignore both of them until they're Scoresaber isn't relevant anymore? Are people still dumping money into their patreon?
EDIT: whelp I just checked. There's still TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY SIX PEOPLE GIVING SCORESABER BETWEEN TWO AND FIVE DOLLARS A MONTH.
Just to get a special color on your scoresaber name - which is on the 5 dollar tier. Let's just cut it in half and say the average is 3.50 a month. That means that means that Scoresaber is pulling in around $800 a month and it's probably closer to $1,000 and the product isn't being improved at all, best I can tell. Yet there's BeatLeader, coming up with new interesting shit every month.
Oh well.
