The timing is tricky. You need to bunny hop but hold R after you hit the ground/jump. If you get the right speed and jump angle, even hitting the respawn trigger is enough to get across to the Vault side.

I spent about 30 minutes practicing this for the first time ever and got the trick twice in about 100 tries.
