In case you think that Gerry is trying to redeem himself, he is just saying that to disguise the fact that he wants to stick it to the Ancelottis even when he is in jail. He plans to do this by kidnapping the Don's daughter. For Gerry, this is revenge for the Ancelottis putting him away. Sometimes, I think revenge is just not worth it.
