The Ukrainian Armed Forces claim that as Kiev forces began a counterattack, Russian servicemen attempted to flee the country. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces, regaining complete authority over the Donetsk area is Russia's top priority. They allegedly planned to annex a portion of Kherson as well as portions of Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, and Mykolaiv. In a 24-hour period, Russia launched 45 air and missile raids, killing civilians. However, it was reported that Ukrainian forces had made a 30-mile advance in three days and "conducted a successful counterattack in the direction of Kharkov."
Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, said in a nighttime speech on Thursday that his troops had retaken approximately 1,000 square kilometers and "dozens of communities had been liberated."
Russian soldiers reportedly sustained "major casualties" and attempted to "evacuate injured people and damaged military equipment to the communities of Vilkhuvatka and Borodoyarske" in the Kharkov area, according to intelligence acquired by the Ukrainian army.
The report states that occupying force members in plain clothes are attempting to flee and reach Russian Federation territory.
