This is my artistic reconstruction of one of the so-called "Grimaldi Man" specimens from the Upper Paleolithic of Italy. These remains actually represent two individuals, one a middle-aged woman and the other a boy in his mid- to late teens (the latter being what I chose to represent). Originally dated to fairly late in the Paleolithic period, the Grimaldi are now thought to have lived between 26,000 and 22,000 years ago if not earlier.
