Grounded is a first and third-person cooperative survival game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and Xbox Game Studios. It was first revealed at X019 in London and entered early access on July 28th, 2020. It was released for Xbox and PC on September 27, 2022.
Gameplay
In Grounded, the player character (Max, Willow, Pete, or Hoops) has been mysteriously shrunk to the size of an ant. The player must survive in the micro-world of a suburban backyard alone or with up to 3 additional players. In the dangerous landscape, players work to progress through story-based quests and explore the farthest reaches of the backyard, its aggressive creatures, and its unique biomes. Players must gather resources, craft tools, and build bases while searching for food and water to stay alive. Players also craft armor to defend against a host of deadly creatures. While exploring, some special locations will yield new tool or base building recipes for endless playthrough possibilities.
Release
Grounded released on September 27, 2022. It first became available through early access on July 28th 2020 for Xbox One and Windows digitally via Game Preview with Xbox Game Pass. Updated through user feedback during development, it is the first Game Preview title available through Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass. Grounded was also available through Steam Early Access.
