GTA 3 Gameplay Walkthrough - Mission 47: The Exchange & Final Cutscene (Catalina)
2You'll need to raise $500,000 for Catalina to replace the drugs that the player stole in Asuka's mission "S.A.M" or Maria will die. When you arrive at the Colombian Mansion they will frisk you and strip you of weapons. Catalina orders you to be killed then leaves, taking Maria with her as hostage. Escape the mansion while collecting as much firepower as you can. Follow the helicopter to find Catalina. Fight his way through goons toward Catalina at the dam. Catalina takes off in a 'copter and shoots missiles at you. Fight your way to a weapon cache and use a rocket launcher or an M16 to shoot down Catalina.
Suggestions and Preparation:
Have full health and full armor before taking this mission
Pull up to the mansion with the bullet-proof patriot pointing north
Finding cool weapons is pointless. You will be stripped of weapons when you begin the mission
Follow the 'C' icon on the radar to Cedar Grove to the Colombian mansion. As long as you have $500,000 enter the blue marker at the gates of the swank mansion. Two guards will take the briefcase and strip search you for any weapons. At this point you will be weaponless. After handing over the money Catalina orders you dead. In the cinematic, you knock the guard to the ground... from here the mission begins with this guard on the ground and the first weapon available at his side. On the clock there is seven minutes. This is the time you have to take out the helicopter at the dam and not just the time you have to escape the mansion so move quickly.
Colombian Compound Escape:
Keep moving! Pick up handgun from first guard and charge the two at the gate. Take the gate guards' weapons and shoot the remaining grounds guard and take his Uzi. Use the Uzi on the two balcony guards. Find armor in the garage and leave the compound through the gate. The helicopter cinematic will begin.
Race to the Dam:
Don't follow the helicopter (red icon on radar) down the road it flies over. Instead, take the quicker route to the dam along the north most road that bends around the north side of the mansion. Find the M16 on the porch of the pink house two houses down from the back of the mansion (be quick about it).
There's a rocket launcher on the west end of the roof on the last house but you may run out of time if you can't get it quickly (jump on the mound on the east side of the house and walk around the rooftop to the launcher).
The Dam Battle:
Exit your vehicle at the 1st dam roadblock and shoot both guards and take their AK47's. Take a cruiser if you don't have the bullet proof patriot. Collect the Sniper Rifle near the mountain before the second roadblock. Shoot the Cruisers that make up the second roadblock to take out the two guards who stand near them. Use the M16 that you picked up from the second roadblock and use the sight to pick off the guard on the crates ahead. Dash behind these crates and take out the guard near the explosive barrels to the north. Take the weapon atop the crates you hide behind. Take out the guard on the first tower using the sniper rifle of the M16.
Remain around the same crate area and take out the guard to the west near the explosive barrels as he rushes you (shoot the barrels). Use the first tower for a higher view for snipe shooting or using the M16 sights. Snipe shoot or use the M16 to shoot the guard on the second tower and the one on the crates below. Shoot the guard on the ground near the stairs beyond the second tower.
As you approach the second tower, a truck will race towards you. Run up the stairs of the second tower and use this vantage point to take out as many of the other guards to the west as you can. Take the M16 power-up from the tower
Take cover behind objects, crates, corners when the missiles begin to fly from Catalina's helicopter. Take out the guard with the flamethrower between the crates below the helipad and shoot the guy above him on the helipad deck. Climb the stairs and carefully shoot around Maria and clear the 3 guards on the rooftop. Take the rocket launcher from the end of the helipad deck and take aim -you only have two rockets- at Catalina's helicopter in flight. Shoot down the helicopter and trigger the ending cinematic.
